• Must currently hold a commercial rating

• Complete ground school or a home study course for the Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument rating

• Log sufficient flight training

• Pass the FAA Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument Knowledge Test

• Pass the FAA Certified Flight Instructor - Instrument Practical Examination
